Tuesday, March 24, 20264:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.Hildreth-Mirza Hall Great Room A birthday celebration of life and legacy of the British designer, printmaker, poet, social critic, utopian, activist, and proto-environmentalist, William Morris. A panel of Bucknell scholars in the arts and humanities will present snaptalks on the themes of: • Useful work vs. useless toil• Craft and the dignity of making• Print, design, and the Kelmscott Press• Ecology, sustainability, and the common good In collaboration with Special Collections, the event will highlight Bucknell’s Kelmscott Press holdings, including the famed Kelmscott Chaucer.

Broken Record: Gendered Abuse in Academia

Broken Record brings together narratives of gendered abuse in academia from across disciplines, at every career stage, around the U.S. and the world. “Black Appalachia and the Search for Nowhere” Symposium

Thursday, February 12th, 10AM & 1PM — Hildreth Mirza Hall, Great Room As part of the BHC’s Theme Year Programming series: “Black Appalachia and the Search for Nowhere”, panelists will present research on Black life and culture in the Appalachian region, bringing fugitivity and marronage into conversation with Black Appalachian studies. The symposium will take place on Thursday, Feb. 12th in the Great Room of Hildreth-Mirza Hall, 760 Fraternity Road in Lewisburg PA. Panel 1 is at 10am and Panel 2 at 1pm, with a post-panel reception and concert at 4:30PM.

BHC Student Fellows Event: “What Can You Do With a Humanities Major?”

Wed, Jan 28, 11:30am–1:30pm — Willard-Smith Library (125 Vaughan Lit) Bucknell Junior and Senior majors in many Arts & Humanities Departments will be tabling to speak with attendees about their experiences in their discipline, to help students prepare for selecting their majors. They will discuss career paths, internships, and research opportunities, focusing on Humanities. Please share with those interested in exploring liberal arts options and encourage first-year or sophomores to attend. Pizza will be served.

Those We Thought We Knew: Reimagined

November 2, 2025, 3:00 p.m.Iron Front Event Space, 434 Market Street Artist Marie Cochran reimagines the novel “Those We Thought We Knew,” by David Joy that explores themes of generational trauma, and betrayal through the story of a young Black artist who returns to her ancestral home. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with Bucknell’s Critical Black Studies program.

The Eastern Kentucky Social Club (EKSC) was founded in 1969 by Appalachian families who migrated out of the coalfields to mostly northern cities.
